about

For the past 25 years, as a photographer and, more recently as a retoucher too, I have worked in the Fashion, Beauty and Advertising sectors, providing imagery for editorial, advertising and packaging use. With an extensive skill-set and years of experience, I provide clients with a complete production service from concept to delivery.

Entirely self-taught, I have, throughout my career, worked across all formats from half frame to 8×10. In 1992 I became one of the first photographers in the UK to shoot digitally and have had a completely digital workflow since 2001. I currently shoot with full frame DSLR’s and on medium format backs.

I trained as an assistant in London, working with top beauty and fashion photographers, for clients such as Boots No. 7, Miners make-up, Zandra Rhodes and a variety of well-known magazines. I then moved on to assist one of the Countries leading advertising photographers, before traveling the World with some of the UK’s best-known Fashion Catalogues.

Following an intensive period of portfolio building and ‘go-seeing’ potential clients, I found work as a fashion photographer for a number of London designers.

On relocating to the Midlands, I continued to develop my London client base, but also became involved in the local hairdressing scene and have since gone on to work with many well-known brands including, Wella, Schwarzkopf, L’Oreal and Regis International.

Working with both rising stars and established names in UK hairdressing, my photography has gained considerable success in competitions and awards, most notably winning the UK Barber of the Year competition for three years in succession.

From high street billboard posters to point of sale in supermarkets, my advertising photography can be found in many places, whilst my editorial work has been seen in Vogue, Company, Hairdressers Journal, Woman, Black Hair and Beauty, Good Housekeeping, Real Salons Magazine and many other consumer magazines and trade publications.

I am based in a striking and unique Victorian School Hall, which provides me with a two thousand five hundred square foot studio just north of Birmingham. It has a 60 x 30 ft shooting area with a 25 ft ceiling, full make-up / changing / back-wash facilities and is available for hire.

I have, in addition to achieving recognition as a photographer, become a well known face on the lecture circuit; conducting regular seminars, workshops and demonstrations around the UK, in association with Major photographic manufacturers, suppliers and associations, such as, Canon Cameras, Leaf Digital Imaging, The Association of Photographers, The SWPP, Profoto Lighting and onOne Software.
